Spring is well and truly sprung
The first flowering Bluebell in the wood was photographed several days ago, along with yellow and even a pink Primrose, heralding the fact that Spring is well and truly sprung.
If you’d like to come and see the carpet of Bluebells covering much of Oxlip Wood, we have an open afternoon at Oxlip Wood on Sunday May 10th. Visit the Events page for more details.
The Primroses are more abundant this year than we have noticed previously, especially in the areas where most of the tree felling has occurred over the past few months.
We’re also very fortunate to have a number of false Oxlips flowering in the wood, which take some finding and, despite being yellow, are obviously different than Primroses when you look closely.
It’s an exciting time of year to be up in the wood, finding new flowering plants every time we visit and watching the trees green up, almost as we look at them.
