Forest School Autumn 2014

We attracted a lovely bunch of children, 12 in all, for our first Oxlip Wood Forest School Autumn 2014 sessions.

Forest School runs for 6 weeks

The idea of 6 weekly sessions is to provide opportunity for the children to learn to own their Forest School area, developing confidence, resilience and social skills.

Risk Taking

This is an important aspect of Forest School, supporting children to take risks, whether that’s involved with physical activities, using woodland tools, or just gaining the confidence to speak up in public, express opinions and share ideas. Forest School is all about holistic development

Forest School activities

Fun and games, all underpinned with the Forest School ethos, included

  • Scavenger hunts
  • Mud play
  • Den building
  • Artwork
  • Outdoor cooking

Of course, the building of fires and cooking outdoors was one of the most popular activities, especially on a chilly day.
