English woodland in January

The new year began with rain which made the tracks muddy, but the sunshine soon returned providing opportunity for interesting photographs. I’ve chosen a selection of those I’ve taken, providing a visual insight into English woodland images in January 2014.

Despite being mid-winter, English woodland can be full of interesting finds, some so tiny you can easily miss them, and vibrant colours that might be unexpected for the time of year.

As well as what can be found within English woodlands in January, it might seem unusual to see brilliant blue skies overhead, especially when coat, hat and gloves are still needed!
